Alexander H. Fung
President
Alex started his Career with GE Plastics in their Commercial Leadership Program (CLP) learning from some of the best and brightest in the industry. He spent several years in sales and business development roles before venturing into a manufacturing Six Sigma black belt role at the company’s largest manufacturing facility. There he worked on improving production yield in the company’s PBT and PC production facilities. Alex also managed the company’s Marketing Technology team which included the Application Development Engineering, e-specification teams, and Commercial Leadership Program Members. Alex had the unique opportunity of being involved in two of the company’s venturing projects that evaluated utilizing Bio-PTA to produce Polyesters as well as evaluating the business case for Post-Consumer Recycle based highly engineered products. Both projects allowed Alex to utilize his technical engineering skill set as well as his Business Degree. Neither project was fully pursued and it left Alex hungry for further opportunities for business innovation, hence the eventual departure to start Conventus Polymers with John.
Alex has several passions that can be seen throughout the Conventus culture. He is a strong proponent of building a culturally and gender diverse team to be effective in today’s global economy. He believes this is especially needed in US manufacturing. He is also a big believer in Imagination driving Innovation and Failing Big and Failing Fast. At Conventus, he wants employees to be challenged and find their work rewarding, frequently pushing the team outside their comfort zone for individual growth.
Alex leads Conventus Polymers by instilling a sense of Entrepreneurialism, diversity, creativity, speed, and ideation. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from The University of Rochester Simon School of Business in Strategy and Finance. Alex is very active and is married to what he jokes is a smarter and genetically superior wife. They have three beautiful girls together.
John J. Jorgensen III
President
John has spent his entire life in the plastics industry growing up around high-performance thermoplastics and perfluoroelastomers for Oil & Gas applications. Prior to founding Conventus, John worked for industry leading producers Victrex and GE Plastics/SABIC. During his time at SABIC, he had the privilege of spending years in various roles supporting and managing distribution. From that vantage, John benchmarked distributors globally and observed that while outstanding distributors, focused on specialty plastics, prevail in Europe and Asia/Pacific, there was an unmet need in North America.
Conventus was designed to address this gap. In order to become a successful distributor for specialties, the organization would need to be as strong in demand creation and technical support as it is in customer service and order fulfillment. By offering the broadest selection of specialty plastics, partnering with industry leading producers committed to innovation, and by serving multiple levels of the value chain within Conventus’ vertical markets, John leads Conventus Polymers towards realizing our mission of becoming the premier source of specialty thermoplastics in North America.
John leads Conventus Polymers by bringing leadership, strategic vision, objective critical thinking, decisiveness, structure, and stability to the organization. He strives to balance the needs of all Conventus’ stakeholders: shareholders, employees, customers, and suppliers. He holds a bachelor’s in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University, an MBA from the University of Louisville and will graduate with a Masters in Plastics Engineering from UMASS Lowell in 2023. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and a native Spanish speaker. He has been married to his beautiful wife for 10 years and they have three children.
